The aircraft was a modified B29 with part of the skin removed and replaced with still and motion picture cameras. My dad and the crew, still and motion picture guys, orbited and captured a series of hydrogen bomb test photos from Bikini atoll on film. It was 1956. Twenty years later, the Air Force declassified the shots, and they were carefully hung on our wall. 

I was hooked. I wanted to be one of those guys.


Since leaving college I have been flown around the world to shoot multiple Formula 1 races, the Indy and Daytona 500, and the America’s Cup in Newport, Rhode Island. I’ve been a professional alpine ski coach with the Austrian, Canadian and U.S. National Ski Teams including in the 1998 Nagano Olympics where I met my wife. I’ve raced Porsche 911’s, driven across the United States over 20 times, climbed the “Three Passes” trek in Nepal in Winter, landed an F35B fighter jet on an aircraft carrier and became a father to my talented daughter who was born at the Salt Lake City Olympics. 


I live in Colorado and I look for and celebrate dedication in every aspect of life, whether it's an Olympic athlete or my English Labradors Zubie & Tux.

I left Los Angeles in route to San Francisco the morning of July 3rd. I had recently been in the Dominican Republic and I was eager to get back to the bay! In fact our entire crew was glad to be back in the golden city. Here's some pics from our time there.

Golden Bridge?

Some visitors wonder why the bridge isn't gold, like made from actual gold (or at least gold painted). Others, like me, have long mistaken it for red. The color is actually called 'international orange' - a variation on the color used now for many astronaut jumpsuits. It was a beautiful accident. The steel parts arrived in an orangey red primer, which was quickly recognized to meld best with the scenery.
